Summary: "AMATEURISH"
Although I did finish the book, I was disappointed throughout with the quality of the writing, which was amateurish at best. The author seemed to try too hard to use "every day talk" and slang, to the point that it took away from the book--became increasingly annoying. The identity of the murderer was predictable, evident almost at the moment he was introduced. I know that writers generally improve as they continue writing, but I would want to leaf through the next book before purchasing. I would definitely not want to read another book by this author if the writing has not improved. My advice to Eileen Davidson, whom I love as an actress, is "stick to knitting."

Summary: "Highly recommended fun!"
"Death in Daytime" by Eileen Davidson is a delightful mystery set in the wacky world of soap operas. This cozy will have you rooting for its plucky heroine, Alex (don't-call-me-a-diva!) Peterson, a single mom and soap star. Alex has always had an interest in crime investigation, but when her vindictive head writer is murdered, Alex finally gets the chance to play detective.
The book is filled with wonderfully recognizable soap characters, as well as their actor counterparts, the show's sensible and true-blue hairdresser, not one--but two--hunky potential boyfriends for Alex, and a good little murder mystery besides.
Davidson's snappy style includes laugh-out-loud observations about life, love, and drama--daytime and otherwise. This is a great read for mystery fans, TV fans, or any fan of the radiant and talented Eileen Davidson, award-winning actress and now successful novelist. I have already ordered my copy of her second book! - Betsy Stowe, author, Calico Tales...And Others

Summary: "Poorly Written"
Plot sounded interesting - nice cozy mystery. But the writing itself turned me off before I got half-way through. There was too much of "first I did this, then I did that". And every time she mentioned her daughter, Sarah, we were told what a good mother she was. Is that really necessary? Again, I thought it had potential, but the amateur writing really turned me off.

Super book. Can't wait for the next one. The heroine sounds like what I think Eileen Davidson sounds like for real.

Summary: "Intriguing and funny"
Good read. Those who always wanted to know what happens or could happen behind the scenes of a daytime soap opera should read it. There is one thing i didn't like though and that was all the extreme admiration for Alex...she is the leading character, but still, was too much.
